Madame Tussauds Wax Museum In DC – The Scavenger Hunt This Weekend
January 8, 2010 Leave a comment

First time, I heard of Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, I was in London back in Spring of 2003. I always thought Madame Tussauds was a English thing, till I found out there was also one right here in our nation’s capital and Amsterdam, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Berlin and believe it or not Las Vegas. Not sure anyone in Vegas goes these though.
Madame Tussauds is part of Merlin Entertainment, an international company that owns and operates 57
attractions including LEGOLAND, Madame Tussauds, British Airways London Eye, SEA LIFE, Dungeons, Gardaland and Alton Towers. If you plan to visit Madame Tussauds Washington DC (which you should), don’t expect to just mingle with politicians. In the Glamour section, you can mingle with celebrities such as Will Smith, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez. In the Sports section, you can interact with lifelike sports idols such as Evander Holyfield and of course, Tiger Woods with his 14 mistresses
There is also a section dedicated to history.
The place is truly an interactive attraction that brings historical figures and events to life through wax figures that visitors can touch, see and hear. Madame Tussauds is a new “must see” attraction for families with a great location in the historic Woodies Building in the Penn Quarter neighborhood of Washington, DC.
The Museum is located at North of Pennsylvania Avenue, halfway between the White House and the U.S. Capitol Building and just south of Chinatown
You will experience Washington, DC’s history from the Founding Fathers to modern day politics. Hands-on exhibits feature George Washington’s inauguration, Abraham Lincoln’s assassination and the Watergate scandal. A replica of the Oval Office allows visitors to veto a bill, address the nation or simply put their feet up on the most powerful desk in the country. Other historical figures featured include Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Rosa Parks, Bob Woodward and J. Edgar Hoover.
Scavenger Hunt and Pizza Party This Weekend January 9, 2010 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM
There is a fun event going on in the Madame Tussauds this weekend,. Team up with old and/or new friends as you experience a scavenger hunt. An early evening consisting of Abe Lincoln, Brad Pitt, Barack Obama, food, adventure, excitement, prizes
Time to hunt for items, pictures and hidden information among history’s (and today’s) top politicians, movie starts, and historical figures! Look for items, answer trivia, get exciting pictures and win big prizes!
How does it work?
1) Upon arrival we will break you into teams. Each team will be given a list of hidden items to retrieve, pictures to take or answers to get (of course, bring those cameras). Among the many many historical wax figures, you will engage in an exciting hunt that requires ingenuity, teamwork and the ability to have a great time.
2) The list will also contain a location in a particular wax figure where each team must check in by a certain time. Each team should take whatever items it has and proceed to that location by the designated time. If you are late, you lose points. Teams are not expected to retrieve all of the items listed.
3) Throughout the afternoon at each location, teams will be given a different list of items to retrieve and take to the next location. In some cases, your team or a teammate will be ask to fulfill a special fun task with the ability to get more and more points.
4) Bonuses are given to the first team to arrive at each respective location. Teams will leave each location in the order in which they arrived. The winning team will be the one that collects the most points. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams both from Things To Do AND the Wax Museum (including a special presentation for everyone in which the winners will get the chance to make a wax figure out of their own hands)
Throughout the event, you’ll learn about and explore fascinating subjects of a wide range. There are over 100 items listed and what you see depends upon your team’s resolve, speed and ability to have fun!
There will be a special pizza party dinner waiting for everyone at the finish line. (During the party, feel free to mix, mingle and dance in the Hollywood room with some of today’s hottest “celebrities” )
A Post Reception at a local venue (with cash bar) follows.
