The Best Of 80’s And 90’s! Come To Fly

by Kamran Abdi
Time to cover another hot place in DC. Not as hot as Lima or One Lounge or L2, but hot enough to party and flirting with beautiful people.

The place is Fly Lounge two blocks south of Dupont Circle. It is a bar and club with an airline theme. Although, I find their airplane interior with passenger windows interesting, but their low ceiling makes me feel claustrophobic sometimes. So, if you are also claustrophobic, that is not the place for you. Otherwise, it is a decent place to have fun. You got to go with friends though. Even as a guy. Otherwise, you will be bored there. It is harder to meet new people there than any other club I’ve been.

As you can tell, like always, I was busy with my olympus 5.0 megapixel :-)

The place is small and usually packed. At least during the five times I’ve been there. There are few tables and seats in an effort to encourage mingling. The place is free before 11:00. If you can’t make it by 11, make sure dress to kill! The door man will throw the red carpet for you the moment you are spotted by him.

I go there on Sunday nights when they usually host great event parties. Although, I heard bad review from a few friends about their drinks, I think their drinks are decent and not that expensive. The music has always been good! They play the best of 80’s and 90’s mixes.

In conclusion, if you really want to enjoy Fly, get a table. I did it twice and both times we had a blast. Go with four or five frineds so you can split the cost. When you’ve got a bachelorette with you, it’s a pleasant for her to be able to dance in VIP section without getting groped on by sweaty douch-o’s, unless she really wants to in which case she can step outside of the VIP so as not to bring the trash back to the rest of the group.

Have fun there :-)
