A Cool iPhone App To Help People Of Haiti

by Elias Shams
I recently came across a pretty cool iPhone App called Extraordinaries. It is FREE!

The App is all about helping Other Humans. It allows you to perform micro-tasks for nonprofits organizations you care about such as helping to find missing people in Haiti, helping to sort photos or subtitle human rights videos, tag images for Greenpeace, and more.

The Extraordinaries is an interesting new concept in the growing field of iPhone applications — it allows people to use the every part of their spare time like waiting for a movie to start, riding a bus, waiting in line, etc. to do small bits of volunteering through micro-actions.

Those of you iPhonians of Washington, I urge you to download it and help. I wonder if they also have an App for Android, Driod, and other smartphones. If they are not, they should use Appmakr to make one.

Here is a step by step walk-through of how to download, install, and participate:

1. On your iPhone App Store, search for “The Extraordinaries”

2. Download the free “The Extraordinaries” App

3. Click install

4. Once installed, open and scroll to AmeriCorps Alums

5. Click follow and locate a mission/task that interests you

6. Begin micro-volunteering for AmeriCorps Alums

I like the comment by their Co-founder “human mind is far superior to any super computer. It’s no match for five minutes of human intuition and knowledge.” Right on!
