Barack and Michelle on a Dinner Date in Dupont Circle

by Elias Shams
President Obama and Michelle went out for dinner on a pleasant evening last night at Komi restaurant near DuPont Circle only two blocks from Awesome DC Headquarter :-)

The surprising diners and passersby went crazy cheering and taking photos.

Those of you haven’t been at Komi, you got to try it out. In one word, “AWESOME”. The restaurant serves mainly Greek and Mediterranean dishes.

They have one of the best services in restaurant business, flavorful and inventive dishes. If you hate raw stuff this may not be the place for you. Very Pricey, but this is more of special occasion sort of place.

The tasting menu consists of umpteen bite size dishes, all of which are delicately prepared and bursting with flavor.  I think my favorite was the deconstructed ceasar salad.  This is the type of place you go to experience exceptional flavor and culinary creativity.

The space is so cozy – really perfect for celebrating a special event like an anniversary. The dining room gets pretty dark as there is pretty much only candlelight aiding your vision. They have a window that allows you to peek into the kitchen if you happen to not be at a seat where you can just look in the doorway. Lovely candles in sconces on the walls and an upper ceiling area with lights. Our party of five had the table by the front window so we had some natural light for part of our meal. Sitting at our spot also made for some great entertainment – watching people come in and guessing whether or not they had a RSVP and evil-y laughing as they were rejected.

So, would I return to Komi or recommend it to a friend?  Absolutely! when I am in better financial situation :-)

A decent dinner for two and wine could easily run for about $200 :-(
