Awesome DC Gearing up for Advertising – FREE till mid or end of July

Our Dear Beloved Friends, Colleagues, Venture Capitalists, Angel Investors, and of course the Fans,

As most of you may already know, we  launched Awesome DC earlier this year. The intent is to position of our Nation’s Capital as one of the greatest cities in the world to live and play in. The major focus is on topics ranging from technology, social & online media, business & finance, health & environment and of course most importantly events & parties (especially since we have the most famous party crashers in the world too)! Essentially everything but politics.

Please feel free to read some of the stories under our categories and subcategories from the homepage. Initially most of the articles were written by me, but I am glad to announce that I now have three other contributors, and we post about three to seven articles a day. You are most welcome to submit articles for inclusion on the site if you would like, as I am always looking for contributors.

As we are approaching our six month anniversary (Jun 5^th), I am excited to report that we have been averaging about 1,000 visitors daily, most of whom are professionals like yourselves (i.e. check out the 72 comments on this article I wrote last month about Newsweek: There is a video from The Daily Show as part of the article. Feel free to turn it off ).  We also push our content to the leading social media channels including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. That provides us additional access to over 800,000 targeted audiences via these channels. As a result of your support and interest in our work, our traffic ranking has been increasing dramatically! You can look at the most recent ranking of Awesome DC at Alexa. Still not a big deal, but given it is highly targeted to DC area, I think we are doing OK J

To continue our effort, we need your support. I have decided to prepare the site for sponsorship advertising.  I will be doing some testing till mid or end of July, and until that time we are providing free advertising on the site.

If you or anyone you know is interested in submitting ads for the test period, please refer to our advertising page and send banner advertisements in the correct format with a link to the page that it should connect to. We will have a rotation schedule defined based on the number of ads that we receive. For the investors amongst you with portfolio companies, I will be glad to include their Ads on our site regardless of their physical location, so long as the investors are local!

Again I wanted to thank you for all the help and support that you have provided me over the last 6 months as I have gotten Awesome DC off the ground. The site is there for all of us and to promote our great city, and I could not have done it without you. I will be glad to hear from any of you regarding any feedback or requests – and in the meantime get your Ads in as soon as possible!
