Entrepreneurs Learned their Lesson from the Bubble Days

Ron Conway and Paul Graham share some positive and optimistic information with the TechCrunch Founder, Michael Arrington and the audience during the Social Currency CrunchUp in Palo Alto,  on Friday. Unfortunately, they both mostly addressed the outcomes for investors, who always have liquidation preferences and other protections that put them ahead of founders.

Conway who said, has invested on over 500 startups, expects about one-third of them fail, one-third get investors their money back, and one-third bring a 2x to Google-x return which btw, Conway invested in Google and PayPal early on. But that’s not the case. Conway noticed that during the Internet Bubble in 1997 to 2001 — the failure rate was about 77 percent. Read more of this post

The Event hosted by Nigel Lythgoe, was held in Washington, D.C. National Mall near by the Capital. I think there were about 500 people had showed up. It was AWESOME!!!!

Everyone looked they had a great time! Dancing is both healthy and healing. Congresswoman Eleanor Norton Holmes and Nigel Lythgoe, and all the rest did a really great job. The performers and camera crew were excellent, so thoroughly enjoyed this event. Thankful for all those who played a part in bringing this initiative to pass.

Those of you missed the National Dance Day in DC today , here are some photos and videos I took –  nothing close to the professional quality, but hey, I only had my Android phone with me.

Verizon Smartphones Vs iPhone: Which one eats up more data?

Those of you Washingtonians trying to figure out whether to buy and iPhone or an Android based phone, you may want to read this first.

Smartphones operating on Verizon Wireless  network are on average consuming 25% more data monthly than iPhones on AT&T’s network, according to a report from the wireless billing vendor, Validas.

That’s right, on average, Verizon smartphones—Android, webOS, and Windows Mobile phones—pull in 421 MB a month of data. iPhone users only use 338MB.

The report excluded Blackberry devices, I think mainly because blackberry compress data. Read more of this post

Washingtonian Mommas Having it Awesome

Awesome Washington, D.C. ranks among the top five in Forbes’ newly released list of the Top 50 U.S. Cities for Working Mothers.

Buoyed by its low unemployment rate and high women’s income — which both topped the list — DC came in second overall, trailing only Minneapolis-St. Paul. Boston, Pittsburgh and Baltimore rounded out the top five, with Richmond ranking 12th and Virginia Beach-Norfolk 18th.

“For a woman looking for financial success in a bustling metro, the country’s capitol is top-notch, and also boasts an excellent school system,” the magazine wrote. “Its higher-than-average cost of living (ranking the 48th-highest of 50 cities) is offset by women’s high earnings potential.”

Can you guys highlight the blue States/cities vs. Red in the comment section? It will be interesting to find out which working Mammas are doing better? Read more of this post
