Originally from: Potomac, Maryland
Profession: Professional Model
What I love about DC area the most:
About me: I’ve been working as a professional model for just over a decade. I’ve been on every side of the modeling world from high fashion shows in Paris for design houses like Lanvin to mainstream catalogue companies like JCrew and Saks Fifth Avenue. I’ve been a muse for fashion icon Stephen Burrows since my first years in New York and still does his show –which is a must see for Vogue’s Andre Leon Talley– for fashion week as my golden rule. I’ve been in commercials and advertising for a broad spectrum of clients from John Frieda and Belvedere Vodka to Loreal and Target. I’ve truly made a career in an industry where most girls only last a season.
I am the host of a weekly celebrity gossip segment “Katie’s Celebrity Hookup” on the hit wdctv show Direct Access With Big Tigger. I hit the hot spots around the country interviewing celebs and getting the inside scoop on their projects and passions.
I graduated from Boston University with a degree in journalism but only recently began sharing her satirical/humorist writing style with the world as a popular blogger. My inspirations come from other humorists and politically incorrect troublemakers from the past like HL Mechen and Art Buchwald.
In 2009 I was asked by Vogue magazine to join The Vogue 100, a group of intriguing and fashionable women from around the country that act as arbiters of style.
I am active in the philanthropic community in the Washington metropolitan area. In November of 2009 I was nominated for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2010 Woman of the Year and put together a formitable team of philanthropists dubbed “Team Believe” to help her raise over $56,000 during her campaign.
I split my time between Northern Virginia, Potomac Maryland and New York City.
