Businesses Will Be Flocking to Social Media in 2011

and the Washingtonian startup, awesomize.me will be there to greet them :-)
It was exactly a month ago today that we launched the beta version of our new venture, awesomize.me that targets both consumers and enterprises. I’ve believed in our business model on day first, the latest study by the IT research firm, IDC, is giving me even more confidence about the concept. With the explosion of social media phenomena, one of the awesomize.me‘s mission is to assist business owners to select the right social media channels for their operation as well as connecting them to the right strategic partners and clients.
The new study titled “Top 10 Predictions 2011” shows that businesses will increasingly turn to social networking tools in 2011. It also noted that many small and medium-sized businesses will turn to social networks such as Facebook to establish a free online presence that improves their ability to acquire, engage, and retain customers without the hassle and cost of setting up a traditional Web site.
The report says social networking is one of the technologies that will move beyond early adopter status and will mature into a mainstream platform in the coming year.
The study is along the lines with what we have seen in our traffic. Given that we have not done a single media push yet, since our beta launch and the launch of our first enterprise feature (part I) called awesome companies, we already have over 1000 users and about 100 companies from 86 Nations utilizing our site. We will be launching part II, awesome services and part III, awesome products of our enterprise solution within the next two months which will be the complimentary to the part I. They will separate the service providers from the manufacturers – a lot a lot more exciting than part I :-)
The awesome companies feature is a free service (at least for now :-) ) that allows any business owner from anywhere in the world to create a page for their companies with links back to their website as well as all their social media channels pages including Facebook fanpage.
Similar to the user profile page, there are two ranking systems integrated to the awesome companies page – one for people to awesomize the companies in general and one to awesomize their customer support services. This will allow users to rate the companies. Those with the highest and best ranking will automatically be pushed to the homepage based on their geographical location – i.e. the default page is set for the user in New York City to rate and see only the local companies in New York City not those in New Delhi and vice versa. There is an option for everyone to go beyond their local region though.
