We Did It! Awesome Washington, DC No.1 on Forbes List Of America’s New Tech Hotspots

Washington DC tech hub

Back in December of 2009, Elias Shams launched AwesomeDC blog with mainly One MISSION to accomplish:  To wipe out  all those Politics, corruption, and scandals crap from the face of Washington, DC.  Then to position the Nation’s capital as a city of technology, partying, clubbing and fun! Mainly  as a Tech hub. Read the 2nd paragraph right below the video of his interview with CNN where he says “My intention with this blog is to show the world Washington, DC is much more than just Politics, corruption, and scandals. Frankly, I am not sure of that myself either, but I will try  I will be covering everything happening in awesome DC, with the focus on the technology, parties, clubs, events, and of course the awesome Washingtonians” Read more of this post

How The Hell Houston Is A Cooler City Than Our Washington, DC?

Forbes  thinks our Awesome DC is the second coolest city after Houston. Measurements:  Houston has lower unemployment rate, stronger theater scene, world-class museums and a multicultural.

Either the people in Forbes including Morgan Brennan who wrote the article are on dope or I have always ended up staying in only blonde, blue eyes, vanilla ice part of Houston every time I was there.  I have been in that city four times ever since I got off the boat from Iran to Awesome Washington DC in 1986. I stayed an average of five days each time. I don’t remember ever spotted anyone but blondes and blue eyes with classic American red neck accent there.  So, not sure what multicultural thing Forbes is yapping about. Read more of this post

One year after cancer ambushed me…Come with me if you want to live!

Hard to believe it was a few hours after this memorable video with my little monkey a year ago today when I was ambushed by cancer that took me near the death experience.  And, a few short days later, the doc just poured it on me…”Elias, the chance that the  chemo works is 50/50″. In deed, time flies fast.

Thanks to the secret organized crime industries: the pharmaceutical, the booze, the tobacco, and the fast food industries  aka “Mafia”,  as well as the advertising industry promoting these killers  since 1970′s, cancer cells have become so smart these days – smart enough that they can hit you with no warning sign. Thank You President Obama! Thank You!

The most well made with ZERO hype video in Politics ever made! So, thank you Mr. President for your work!  FANTASTICO!

As I have worked hard to get the world to awesomize you, I’ll do my best to get America to awesomize you in Nov 2012. Considering the candidates you will be up against, It doesn’t look like you’ll be needing my help anyway :)  So please, don’t waste a dime on presidential campaign! Washington, D.C. kicks Ass! Not Quite Yet!

Although the three recent studies/charts below  shows our city as the richest, the best-educated, and  fastest growing than any other U.S. state at three times the national average, but as I’ve always been bitching, this is due to a large number of government milking type of businesses in DC Metro.

Once, I see more innovators in DC area, then I truly feel proud of these charts! Till then,  I hate to say it, but Washington DC is mainly the beneficiary of having more Federal employees and government contractors  than any other city in the  nation.  Read more of this post

DC Technology Business Innovation recommendations – Presentation Transcript

The pretty one is me, Jamey is the other one

A few month after Vincent Gray, our new mayor was elected last year,  one of the most awesome Washingtonian entrepreneurs, Jamey Harvey, founder of the DC based startup, Sponto and Marullus Williams, President and CEO of Limbic Systems, the DC based IT solution provider led a group of civic minded, entrepreneurial technologists and investors in a conversation about what we could do to make DC more awesome for Startups. The group included Peter Corbett, Jonathan Aberman, Doug Humphrey, Susan Banta, Julie Silard Kantor, Adam Rubinson, Wolf Ruzicka, Dutch Dunham and me, the awesomizer.

The mayor has declared this to be the technology startup month and he’s hosting a group of tech CEO’s soon to continue this conversation face-to-face.

Thanks to Jamey who put this slide together, here is the summary of what we did. Feel free to share it with those in your network. Read more of this post

The Ass Size: Washington,DC, Virginia, and Maryland VS. Alicante, Paris, and London

Literally, every chair in the cafes across the EU has a nice comfortable thin cushion to sit on. At least those in London,Paris, and Alicante where I regularly travel to.

I rarely see cushion on any chairs in our cafes in the Washington, DC area. They all come with flat hard wood or metal chairs. I have always been wondering about it till now as I’m watching everyone’s ASS in Starbucks, Dupont Circle waiting for my meeting: Read more of this post
