The Ass Size: Washington,DC, Virginia, and Maryland VS. Alicante, Paris, and London

Literally, every chair in the cafes across the EU has a nice comfortable thin cushion to sit on. At least those in London,Paris, and Alicante where I regularly travel to.

I rarely see cushion on any chairs in our cafes in the Washington, DC area. They all come with flat hard wood or metal chairs. I have always been wondering about it till now as I’m watching everyone’s ASS in Starbucks, Dupont Circle waiting for my meeting: Read more of this post

One Reason Our Ass Is Jumbo In America Compare to The Europeans

I just took this video in Paddington station in London on my way back from Paris today. As an Iranian/American Citizen myself, I love all my fellow Americans back home – particularly those in Awesome Washington, DC where I currently work and live, but I just had to make this comment in the video. It’s for your own good :) Having lived and worked in various countries including Iran, Germany, Spain, France, England, Qatar, India, and our good old US of A, trust me on this! it’s not my ass talking.  Read more of this post

Awesome DC Official Drink! The Rickey

After 128 years, our politicians finally pulled their head out of their ass and agreed on a legislation to recognize “The Rickey” as the native cocktail of  Washington D.C.  The drink was invented in 1883 at a D.C. bar popular with politicians and reporters where the JW Marriott is located now (14 & Pennsylvania ave). At the time the place called Shoomaker’s saloon. The drink is made with gin or whiskey, lime juice and club soda.

Having been on this side of the Atlantic since March, I can’t wait to get back to DC in September and try out the drink :-) Till then, you all enjoy it for me :-)

First Annual Wonderland Show by Art Soiree last night @ L2 Lounge

Thanks to the wonderful organizers, Tati ana and Sandro, Art Soiree hosted another great party last night at L2 lounge in Georgetown – Their First Annual Wonderland Show.

Given they were founded only in September of 2009 – a few month before I launched Awesome DC, I was very impressed with the turn out.  Tati and Sandro started the company with the goal to showcase emerging talent in the visual arts, short film, music, and performance art in the Washington, DC.

Washington could use more people like these guys.  Their work is right along line with my mission with awesome DC blog and my social media company, awesomize.me that I launched last month :-) With their focus in art and mine in technology, I believe we should be able to position Washington, DC as the hub for Art, Culture, technology, partying, and fun events, as opposed to just classic Politics, corruption, scandals, and the fuck ups :-) Read more of this post

The Merry Widow Opera Event At Austrian Embassy

The Opera Camerata Washington is celebrating its 20th anniversary – the Merry Widow performed by the Opera Camerata. During the course of its existence, this unique orchestra has successfully specialized on revivals of rare operas and operettas.

Therefore it is not surprising that the Opera Camerata of Washington has become a cultural landmark in Washington DC and the rest of the nation. But this is not the only fascinating facet of this orchestra. With remarkable devotion, the orchestra has supported In-School Programs which attempt to educate young children and students on the importance of classical music and its influence on popular culture. The current In-School program is completely funded by patrons of the Opera Camerata under the leadership of Executive Director Michael Reilly and President of the Board of Directors, Randall Roe. The Power of Film

Film is such a powerful medium. It can educate us, enrage us, entertain us…and pretty well push/pull us through all our emotions. When we feel, we are changed. It amazes me that Film and entertainment are still diminished by some as being “light” topics compared to news, science and business. The great power of film was discussed a few days ago in the UN Week Digital Media Lounge in a session entitled, “Reel Impact: The Power of Film to Change Lives.” Read more of this post
