The NVL’s Inaugural Soiree will be held this coming Sat, May 14th at Midtown Loft located on the Third Floor of 1219 Connecticut Avenue, NW Washington DC. GWU Entrepreneurship Seminar: Marketing – How to Find Your Customers [EVENT]

GW School of Engineering and Applied Science is hosting an excellent event next week for those who are interested in finding customers with minimum or even ZERO budget. If you are around DC next week, I urge you attend. The program is free and open to the public and is a great networking opportunity for students, professionals, faculty and even others from outside the GW network.

The panel consists of me and two other Washingtonian serial entrepreneurs who will share and discuss our experiences. The program provides for ample audience participation and is a unique opportunity to learn from the experts on effective ways to get your message to the right people. For those on a shoestring budget, we will have tips and ways to market at low or no cost!

International Film Festival in Freer Gallery

Another awesome event for everyone particularly the Iranian-American community to celebrate their love for Persian art and heritage in Washington, DC. The Freer Gallery at the Smithsonian Museums of Asian Art is hosting the Iranian Film Festival in Washington, D.C. The film festival starts this Friday, January 21^st, screening five new Iranian films plus a special documentary program.

Fans of Mohammad Rasoulof’s Iron Island will find even more densely-woven symbolism and uncanny imagery in his latest film. Shot on a lake dotted with tiny islands and otherworldly salt formations, this visually stunning, allegory-rich work is full of indelible scenes, from a woman who marries the sea to a dwarf who carries jars of secrets to the bottom of a well. These and other haunting incidents are witnessed by the film’s hero, a man who rows from island to island, collecting human tears. This inventive collection of surreal stories radiate the power of classic mythology, but also present a cutting, if deliberately veiled, critique of Iran’s current political situation. Washington DC Got a New sheriff: Vince Gray

Thanks to my web 1.0 era buddy Jamey Harvey, CEO of sponto, I was invited to the inaugural ball for the mayor last night. It was freaking awesome, except for the food; there was no Kabob, no caviar, no Persian style rice . Having said, the ambiance, the laughter and joy from the beginning to the end of the party made it easy for me to overlook the food, which I’m actually not sure anyone minded but me, being the spoiled brat I am.
