Next Apple TV will be iPhone sized



The next Apple TV revealed: cloud storage and iPhone OS on tap… and a $99 price tag

From various Newsletter I received today, it looks like the next iteration of Apple’s streaming media server, Apple TV, will abandon the set-top box shape in favor of a smaller device based on the iPhone that will sell for $99, down from the $230 price tag of the current model.

The new Apple TV will reportedly feature just two ports, for power and video output, and may focus on cloud-based storage, streaming 1080p HD content to televisions.

Many of the reports state that Apple is unlikely to announce the new device at its upcoming WWDC event, at which it is expected to focus on a new iPhone. Read more of this post

The First D Day in Tech – Apple Overtakes Microsoft on Wed 4 p.m. US EST May 26th 2010



Did anyone watch the market today?  Apple’s market capitalization hit $227.1 overtook Microsoft’s $226.3 Billion. As a stock holder of both companies since late 90’s, this is the first time. Congrats Apple!

what does this  mean?

Apple, the maker of iPods, iPhones and iPads, and  iMorethings to come, is now the world’s most valuable technology company today 4:00 p.m US EST Wed May 26th, 2010.

I remember the time I bought apple’s stock in 1997 around $22 and stayed  in low $20’s for years. Apple’s Board had pushed out Steve Jobs at the time, and the company was widely believed to go bust. Read more of this post

Google TV is ALIVE!



In partnership with Intel, Sony, and Logitech, Google officially unveiled Google TV at its Google I/O conference today – integrated devices seamlessly synchronized using the Internet.  Smooth! Very smooth!

And No! Google is not going to replace your cable or satellite box, but work alongside it. The goal is to be able to view web content and television content side-by-side from the same interface. Read more of this post

Is TV About To Be Gone with the Web?

If not gone,  they will have at least web connectivity in a few years.

An estimated 800,000 U.S. households ditched their cable, satellite or telco TV subscription services for online options such as Hulu, Netflix, broadcaster Websites, or Apple’s iTunes last year. The number could double to 1.6 million by the end of 2011, according to a new study by Convergence Consulting Group.

I can totally see how this number will be jacking up as more and more viewing options become available online – things like hulu or tablets. Not to mention our experience of dealing with less advertising watching movies or TV shows online compare to TV. I wonder how long that lasts. read more…
