To Get into their Panties, Get an iPhone

The dating site, OkCupid has completed a new study which confirms our earlier blog post back in April about the higher chance of getting laid with iPhone! The study has determined that among people who use smartphones,  iPhone users have a much higher chance of getting laid, followed by BlackBerry users and finally Android users.

Hmmm…. Perhaps this is because the Android has an easily accessible porn app store?

I am dumping my Android for iPhone today. If that’s what it takes to get laid, who cares about early termination fees? I would even pay $1,000 to get out of it.  Read more of this post

We’ve gone nuts with our Smartphones

Since the inception of iPhone, we have been increasingly tapping into the advanced features of our smartphones, according to a new report released by Compete as part of its Quarterly Smartphone Intelligence Survey.

I think part of the reason behind such phenomena is a result of the improvement of the wireless network platforms that carry the data and voice connections, particularly the evolution of 3G  and now 4G technology that promises to increase both the speed at which data can be transferred and the amount of information that can be handled per cell site.

This is also fueled in part by a new generation of powerful and popular smart phones which are loosely defined as mobile devices offering more advanced computing ability and connectivity than a basic feature phone.

The survey further shows: Read more of this post

More and More Texting, Browsing, Downloading

Nearly two-thirds of U.S. mobile subscribers used text messaging in May, while nearly a third used their mobile web browsers or downloaded apps, according to a new report by comScore.

All three categories rose about 2% from figures released in February. The largest increase, however, occurred among those using their mobile devices to access social networks or blogs (up 2.6% to 20.8%). All told, 49.1 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones during the three months ending in May, up 8.1 percent from February, with Research In Motion‘s (Blackberry) platform running on nearly 42%. Apple (24.4%) and Microsoft (13.2%) followed, with Google‘s Android platform (13%) the only one among the top five gaining market share, up 4%.

The report further shows that 65.2 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers used text messaging on their mobile device in May, up 1.4 percentage points versus the prior three month period, while browsers were used by 31.9 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers (up 2.3 percentage points). Awesome Apps to improve your Schmoozing Skills

Given majority of jobs are found through networking, in case you are not good in schmoozing and mingling, here are several Apps/tools to improve your networking skills. Even if you are good at networking, these apps will still come handy.

Unfortunately, the apps are just for iPhone. Hope someone builds them for Android and Blackberry soon:

1.  MeetMe:
There’s nothing more annoying than emailing back and forth with a colleague to try to figure out where to meet up for coffee, lunch or drinks. For these situations, there’s MeetMe ($0.99), an app designed to help people meet in the middle. You input two locations (or use your current location and input your colleague’s address) and it locates suitable venues in the middle. The search can be narrowed down by type of venue, and you can store contacts and venues in your favorites for future use. From there, you can email directions to yourself and your colleague. The only thing left to do is meet up and have a good time. Read more of this post

Smartphones Becoming a Necessity

According to a report from Nielsen, 23% of U.S. mobile consumers owned a smartphone in the first quarter of 2010, up from 16% in the second quarter of 2009.  I don’t have any  stat on this for early 2000, but for sure I don’t remember any of my friends or colleagues  owned a smartphone back then compare to today. Slowly, but surely the smartphones are indeed becoming a must have thing to more and more people.

Research in Motion’s BlackBerry leads with a 35% market share, followed by Apple’s iPhone (28%); Microsoft  Windows Mobile (19%); Google  Android (9%); Palm (4%); Linux (3%); and Symbian (2%). Read more of this post
