First Crowdfunding Conference on May 14th in Awesome Washington DC

The Crowdfunding bill that was signed by President Obama last month will have its first conference next week in Awesome DC!

If you are still not sure what the bill is all about and what it means to your business, the bill classifies startups as “emerging growth companies” that can turn to online investors to raise startup capital. Those companies would also be able to sell up to $50 million in shares before having to register with the Securities and Exchange Commission and have up to 1,000 shareholders which is double the current limitation. Organizations For Women Getting Ahead in Technology


1. For Educators & Professionals

The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference is an annual consortium that includes female students, large company recruiters, and educators. Run by the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology, the conference is the world’s largest gathering of technical women in computing. Last year’s conference, “Creating Technology for Social Good,” attracted approximately 1,600 women.

The celebration includes a day of programming for the Computer Science Teacher’s Association, which supports problem solving and computing education for middle school and high school teachers.  Read more of this post

ACS Green Chemistry Institute To Host Green Chemistry Conference In Washington, D.C.

The American Chemical Society‘s (ACS) Green Chemistry Institute will host the 14th Annual Green Chemistry and Engineering Conference next month in Washington, D.C.

With an overarching theme of “Innovation and Application,” this year’s conference will celebrate recent innovations and applications at the cutting edge of green chemistry. The conference also will address environmental challenges and explore sustainable solutions of today for future generations, which will heighten the efforts of D.C. city officials.
