Back in December of 2009, Elias Shams launched AwesomeDC blog with mainly One MISSION to accomplish: To wipe out all those Politics, corruption, and scandals crap from the face of Washington, DC. Then to position the Nation’s capital as a city of technology, partying, clubbing and fun! Mainly as a Tech hub. How The Hell Houston Is A Cooler City Than Our Washington, DC?

Forbes thinks our Awesome DC is the second coolest city after Houston. Measurements: Houston has lower unemployment rate, stronger theater scene, world-class museums and a multicultural.
Either the people in Forbes including Morgan Brennan who wrote the article are on dope or I have always ended up staying in only blonde, blue eyes, vanilla ice part of Houston every time I was there. I have been in that city four times ever since I got off the boat from Iran to Awesome Washington DC in 1986. I stayed an average of five days each time. I don’t remember ever spotted anyone but blondes and blue eyes with classic American red neck accent there. So, not sure what multicultural thing Forbes is yapping about. Read more of this post
Washington, DC Poised To Become More Awesome for Businesses Starting With LivingSocial

Earlier this week, the DC Council implemented another Business incentive that was recommended to DC mayor by the local entrepreneurs including myself. The Council unanimously passed the Social E-Commerce Job Creation Tax Incentive Act of 2012 bill that provides LivingSocial, the social daily deals company with future tax breaks that could total $32.5 million over a 10-year period. George Clooney was arrested in DC today in a protest against the ethnic cleansing in the Sudan. Clooney has been on a mission to bring humanitarian aid and support to the people suffering at the hands of the Sudanese government.

Black & Orange Poised to Prove That Size Doesn’t Matter

I finally had the opportunity to try out the newly opened Black & Orange Burgers in 14th St. Although, their burgers come in small sizes, but the promise of getting your dream orgasm is pretty much guaranteed. It took two of their quarter-pounds to give me mine 
JUST PERFECT!
The restaurant that prides itself on affordability, creativity, and quality of ingredients, makes their seven varieties of quarter-pound and half-pound burgers based on blending of fresh ingredients, simple foods and bold flavors into every burger they make. The beef is cooked to perfection and the meat is moist and tender not runny! They are cooked “pink or no pink. The bun is toasted so lightly, Lettuce, tomato, and onion extremely fresh! Washington, D.C. kicks Ass! Not Quite Yet!

Although the three recent studies/charts below shows our city as the richest, the best-educated, and fastest growing than any other U.S. state at three times the national average, but as I’ve always been bitching, this is due to a large number of government milking type of businesses in DC Metro.
Once, I see more innovators in DC area, then I truly feel proud of these charts! Till then, I hate to say it, but Washington DC is mainly the beneficiary of having more Federal employees and government contractors than any other city in the nation. Read more of this post

A few month after Vincent Gray, our new mayor was elected last year, one of the most awesome Washingtonian entrepreneurs, Jamey Harvey, founder of the DC based startup, Sponto and Marullus Williams, President and CEO of Limbic Systems, the DC based IT solution provider led a group of civic minded, entrepreneurial technologists and investors in a conversation about what we could do to make DC more awesome for Startups. The group included Peter Corbett, Jonathan Aberman, Doug Humphrey, Susan Banta, Julie Silard Kantor, Adam Rubinson, Wolf Ruzicka, Dutch Dunham and me, the awesomizer.
The mayor has declared this to be the technology startup month and he’s hosting a group of tech CEO’s soon to continue this conversation face-to-face.
