Live Flamenco right from Dupont Circle

How many of you know about the awesome Latin place called Cafe Citron right below Dupont Circle? They also do Flamenco dance every Saturday and I think Mondays at 7:30.

Sometimes, the performance reminds me of my days in Spain. Lots of talent..Flamenco guitarist, traditional Spanish dancer and guests attend the event. So, if you are a Washingtonian or Visiting DC, you got to check out this place during their Flamenco dance event. It is a fantastic experience.

Cafe Citron is one of my small bar/restaurants in Dupont.  I’ve been to Cafe Citron many times in the past few years. They let guys and girls right in all you have to do is flash your ID.  There are three levels to this place all of which have a bar and dancing. When you  first walk in, there is always a live band banging on bongo drums and kicking a beat. Booth tables span the length of the room to the right and the bar spans to the left. In the back of the main floor is a dance floor, doors to the kitchen and stairs to the top level. When you first enter the club, there are stairs that lead directly down to the lower level where the bathrooms are and most of the dancing action. Read more of this post

Be Curious… Be spontaneous… Play with your Food

It is the simple  philosophy behind the new café shop recently opened near by my place two block north of Dupont Circle less a hundred feet below Russia House. It is called Dolcezza – my new office  to blog from. Yes, free Wi-Fi  :-) The joint is all about fresh ice cream made from fresh organic and exotic fruits every morning, organic tea/coffee from various countries, and Argentine gelato.

I think the joint is the second or third cafe shop Dolcezza has opened in DC area. I have seen another one in Georgetown. Never tried it though. Read more of this post

From Moscow to DC via Russia House

by Elias Shams

Sure, the Cold War is over, but the Russians have more to give American culture than just Smirnoff Ice. Had a blast with many of my Russian Comrades at one of the most iconic places in Dupont Circle last night – Russia House.

Russia House -  Short Version

Great and STRONG drinks, great ambiance,  great food, super friendly service, patient with our indecisiveness, and great crowd! read more…

My little Italy in Washington DC

by Elias Shams
Having lived and worked in Washington, DC, Spain, France, Germany, India, Iran, and regretfully UK, I finally found my favorite little cozy hair salon that every man regularly loves to visit for a haircut -  Diego’s Hair Salon one block North of Dupont Circle.

The shop is owned by a seventy something years old Italian guy named Diego D’Ambrosio for the past forty something years. Diego established the joint around 1961 when he had just moved to the US with a one way ticket from Italy around the same time as the JFK Presidential Inauguration.  see more…

Boobquake Message from DC to the Mullahs in Tehran

by
Kamran Abdi
A group of  Washingtonian women stood in Dupont Circle yesterday wearing their cleavage-showing dresses and blouses they own in response to the classic and most idiotic comment by an Iranian Mullah last week  about the cause of the earthquake.

Those of you missed the mullah’s genius discovery, here is the story. Hilarious :-)   In a nutshell, he has concluded that the cause of the earthquake are tits and ass :-) read more…

First Lady Reveals Her Favorite Things about Washington DC

by
Elias Shams

Michelle Obama wants Americans to see the capital she loves, from the intimate majesty of the White House to the restaurants that the President and she visit on their date nights. Who could we possibly have on our side better than Michelle?

Mrs. Obama said that Washington, DC, is starting to feel like home, after living at the White House for a year and a half.

“It’s been a really good first year and a half,” she said this week.

I wonder if Barack will let me to take her take her to my favorite restaurants Moby Dick and The Rogue States in Dupont Circle and Lima lounge for clubbing later on which is only four block from her house :-)

Take a listen and enjoy:

by

As a Washingtonian, I am very happy that our Nation’s Capitol is getting recognized rather than criticized and homogenized.  Top Chef Season 7 will be filming in Washington DC  during the first three weeks of April. The rumors are that the show’s contestants will be living near Dupont Circle, shopping at Whole Foods on P Street, NW and will be utilizing the Washington Hilton’s kitchen for their quickfire challenges.

Those of you love cooking and interested in getting new ideas, here is the opportunity. read more…

The Perfect Orgasm In Our New Fifty First State

by Elias Shams
I don’t usually eat red meat unless I am really hungry. Last night was one of those moments – had a major craving for burger and decided to walk around my area to grab a bite. I discovered a new joint less than a block south of Dupont Circle called Rogue States opened last week. Their burger is Awesome! After having their Curried Away burger, I am seriously re-evaluating my diet. Every single bite was a taste of heaven. I literally got an orgasm as I was finishing my burger. Good thing the place is new, it was Monday night, and wasn’t really crowded. So, not many people heard me.

Given the love President Obama has for burger, I think this place will be his new hang out. Not to mention, it is only several blocks away from his house. Read more…
