A few month after Vincent Gray, our new mayor was elected last year,  one of the most awesome Washingtonian entrepreneurs, Jamey Harvey, founder of the DC based startup, Sponto and Marullus Williams, President and CEO of Limbic Systems, the DC based IT solution provider led a group of civic minded, entrepreneurial technologists and investors in a conversation about what we could do to make DC more awesome for Startups. The group included Peter Corbett, Jonathan Aberman, Doug Humphrey, Susan Banta, Julie Silard Kantor, Adam Rubinson, Wolf Ruzicka, Dutch Dunham and me, the awesomizer.

The mayor has declared this to be the technology startup month and he’s hosting a group of tech CEO’s soon to continue this conversation face-to-face.

Cancer: One Of The Best Thing Ever Happened To Me

What you are about to read is all the advice I’ve been ignoring from the loved ones around me for the past 15 years. Wearing my engineering hat, I’ve added some additional information that I have recently learned. I did my best to make the connection between stress, diet, attitude, the cells in our body, yoga, meditation, and cancer. The article is based on my own battle with cancer, feedback from several oncologists, hematologists, and nutritionists from various countries and meeting other cancer patients ranging in age from 16 to 60. YES! 16 years old girl! Cancer these days has nothing to do with age. So, I hope you are not a moron like me and that at least a some of you will listen to the tips here and change your diet.

As a serial entrepreneur who recently beat cancer and been following the story of some other entrepreneurs including Steve Jobs who unfortunately lost his life to cancer,  Amit Gupta who is currently battling Leukemia, and a few other close and young friends who also lost their life to various type of cancers including a very dear friend just last week,   I found it necessary to blog about my case. I hope the story of my life saves the lives of others and that it is a wakeup call for all of you. Read more of this post

One Reason Our Ass Is Jumbo In America Compare to The Europeans

I just took this video in Paddington station in London on my way back from Paris today. As an Iranian/American Citizen myself, I love all my fellow Americans back home – particularly those in Awesome Washington, DC where I currently work and live, but I just had to make this comment in the video. GWU Entrepreneurship Seminar: Marketing – How to Find Your Customers [EVENT]

GW School of Engineering and Applied Science is hosting an excellent event next week for those who are interested in finding  customers with minimum or even ZERO budget.  If you are around DC next week, I urge you attend.  The program is free and open to the public and is a great networking opportunity for students, professionals, faculty and even others from outside the GW network.

The panel consists of me and two other Washingtonian serial entrepreneurs who will share and discuss our experiences.  The program provides for ample audience participation and is a unique opportunity to learn from the experts on effective ways to get your message to the right people.  For those on a shoestring budget, we will have tips and ways to market at low or no cost!

Once a Geek, you will always be a Geek! Hire a MARCOM or Hook up with other Great Geeks

As a serial entrepreneur, I’ve learned that we can have the most incredible ideas, but if we fail to come up with the right messaging or building the right brand, our startup could end up nowhere. Typically, a startup hires a marketing communications person or even a PR agency to help them with that task . But, what would you do if you don’t have the funding to afford one? Well, do what I recently did :-) Hook up with other successful entrepreneurs to learn from their experiences and wisdom.

Since, the beta launch of awesomize.me, we have changed the main message on our homepage many times. None of them was able to convey the message clearly until our most recent posting which has already increased our user registration by 20% since we took it live 24 hours ago. Tech Cocktail’s 2011 DC Winter Mixer Event last week

Those of you missed it,  Tech Cocktail did an awesome job in organizing their 2011 DC Winter Mixer event last Wednesday at Slaviya in the heart of Adams Morgan. There were about 10 DC startups showcased their solution offerings including us, awesomize.me :-) :

One Crazy Persian Night @ Lima Lounge DC

After a full week of non-stop testing and bug fixing of the new awesomize.me from 6 a.m till 2 a.m, I dropped everything last night and headed to Lima Lounge for dinner and hunting with friends  ;-)

I have been always enjoying Lima, but certainly last night was the best. Literally, everyone had returned from an overseas trip, me included. So, it was like reunion Persian party…Awesome crowd, like always, Awesome ambience, Awesome music, and Awesome Wine! Later on the night, things went a little bit out of control. Everyone was drunk!!!
