The Jetsons might become a Reality soon

Remember the Jetsons? Thanks to apple, Google, Microsoft, and mobile handset vendors, their life style might be  a few years a way :-) Here are the first series of gadgets that are taking us to that direction:

1. Entertainment: Google TV: Starting with the first one Google TV that we covered last month.

Google TV integrates TV and web content to create one, smooth experience. The product is more robust than web TV or Apple TV, and it’s not just a browser or a guide. This device and software will let you search for and navigate both TV and online content. You’ll be able to download and run apps from your TV and control your TV from your Android smartphone. Can Google win the Tablet Market?

Last month, Google unveiled  Google TV in their partnership with Intel, Sony, and Logitech. They also announced their partnership with Verizon to rival the Apple AT&T alliance. With all that partnerships, does Google have what it takes for wining the tablet market?  To find out, let’s see what Google is and is not first.

Google is all about archiving bits and bobs of web based and user generated content à la YouTube, a few free web apps and some services – hardly “a great experience” to swoon over, argue critics.

Google advocates, on the other hand, point out that it isn’t just the media itself which is important, but the means to deliver content through them. Thus, combining what Google does have with the search giant’s powerful Android operating system and developer relations strategy, the firm could yet provide value to the tablet kingdom. Next Apple TV will be iPhone sized

The next Apple TV revealed: cloud storage and iPhone OS on tap… and a $99 price tag

From various Newsletter I received today, it looks like the next iteration of Apple’s streaming media server, Apple TV, will abandon the set-top box shape in favor of a smaller device based on the iPhone that will sell for $99, down from the $230 price tag of the current model.

The new Apple TV will reportedly feature just two ports, for power and video output, and may focus on cloud-based storage, streaming 1080p HD content to televisions.

Many of the reports state that Apple is unlikely to announce the new device at its upcoming WWDC event, at which it is expected to focus on a new iPhone. Read more of this post

what does this  mean?

Apple, the maker of iPods, iPhones and iPads, and  iMorethings to come, is now the world’s most valuable technology company today 4:00 p.m US EST Wed May 26th, 2010.

Google TV is ALIVE!

In partnership with Intel, Sony, and Logitech, Google officially unveiled Google TV at its Google I/O conference today – integrated devices seamlessly synchronized using the Internet.  Smooth! Very smooth!

And No! Google is not going to replace your cable or satellite box, but work alongside it. The goal is to be able to view web content and television content side-by-side from the same interface. Read more of this post

by
Elias Shams
It looks like my earlier joke on Google to sell us grocery and bank loan might become a reality. No kidding! Based on the two articles I recently read about them on The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, brace yourself for Gooooooogle TV.

Google is testing a new television programming search service in conjunction with Dish Network. The service will run on a special set-top box, surfs, and searches content from both the Dish programming guide, as well as web video services like YouTube . As part of the project, the company has also established strategic partnership with Sony and Intel in a new Android-based platform. read more…
