Stewart and Colbert Kicked Ass in Washington National Mall Today

Due to my overseas trip, I wasn’t able to attend the rally, but I monitored the event from satellite dish here in Tehran with friends via various channels. From the TV and various reports sent to me by friends on the foot there, it looks like there were about 250,000 people attended the Rally.

I think both Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert did a great job to unite the American people. However, when I turned the channel to Fox News, all they were talking about was the color of people that were there…and how many of which………How pathetic that they want to “undo” the commaraderie that was created today. Free Wireless all over Washington, D.C. National Mall

Not that there wasn’t enough reason to love Washington, D.C., here is another one  - Free wireless Internet access has been added to our  National Mall.

This is classic example of living in a free society and developed countries whose government spends millions on internet infrastructure because they believe in free access to the Internet as a necessity vs. my homeland country of Iran or China who spends tens of millions of dollars to restrict access to the  information.

The service that was launched yesterday, can be found under the name “DC Wifi,” covering a stretch of the Mall all the way from 3rd Street on the east to 14th Street on the West. The city has installed 220 free Wi-Fi hotspots that are accessible by any compatible computer or device. Read more of this post

The Event hosted by Nigel Lythgoe, was held in Washington, D.C. National Mall near by the Capital. I think there were about 500 people had showed up. It was AWESOME!!!!

Everyone looked they had a great time! Dancing is both healthy and healing. Congresswoman Eleanor Norton Holmes and Nigel Lythgoe, and all the rest did a really great job. The performers and camera crew were excellent, so thoroughly enjoyed this event. Thankful for all those who played a part in bringing this initiative to pass.

Those of you missed the National Dance Day in DC today , here are some photos and videos I took –  nothing close to the professional quality, but hey, I only had my Android phone with me.

No Transformer Shooting in Washington National Mall

Looks like the excitement over shooting the movie, Transformer III in Washington, D.C. National Mall is over :-( Director Michael Bay has been told by DC authorities he can’t destroy Washington, D.C. in the third Transformers movie.

According to The Washington Post, Michael Bay had been tussling with the Park Service over a planned 14 days of filming in Washington D.C., where he was hoping to stage a car race on the National Mall and shoot the whole thing at night.

Wonderfully cranky and logical Park Service spokesman Bill Line told the Post that the producers “have asked to do some things that simply are not done on the National Mall,” and added, “A lot of this could be more appropriately shot in a Hollywood studio. The National Mall is not an area in which Americans come to see high-tech action movies being shot.”
