T-Mobile: America’s New Bastard

Voogle
(the pact between Google and Verizon Wireless) hasn’t killed the Net Neutrality yet, but many wireless carriers have already started their abuse. The new bastard is “T-Mobile” which happens to be my own carrier too :-( Their case is yet classic example of a totally arbitrary decision by a carrier to block text message calls between consumers and organizations they want to communicate with. Why didn’t Stephen Colbert nail Google CEO Eric Schmidt on Net Neutrality?

Google CEO Eric Schmidt appeared a few nights ago on The Colbert Report. The two discussed everything from user privacy to why Google exited China and Google’s “Don’t be Evil” thing.

Although, the interview was funny, I just wish Colbert was aware of the recent News around the possible destruction of  Net Neutrality by Voogle (Google and Verizon). He could have nailed Schmidt on that when Schmidt  claimed  Google was still about “Don’t Be Evil”. Read more of this post

War of Words: FCC Vs. Voogle

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is conducting further investigation into Voogle’s (Google and Verizon) proposed net neutrality framework seeking  public comment on two controversial provisions included in a proposed policy framework crafted by Google and Verizon and opposed by many supporters of network neutrality rules.

The agency’s seven-page public notice, specifically, is seeking comments on how wireless providers should address transparency, devices and applications. Read more of this post

The Net Neutrality: The Good The Bad The Ugly and The Nasty

Those of you can’t make any sense of the title, I suggest you read my previous post on the subject which I defined the good, the bad, and the ugly companies on net neutrality. Here is the nasty one, Facebook!

Yesterday, Facebook entered the net neutrality debate with a statement critical of the key provisions of Google and Verizon’s net neutrality proposal.

In a statement, Facebook, which is also part of the coalition, suggested that exempting wireless networks from net neutrality rules, as proposed by Google and Verizon, was the wrong approach. Read more of this post

The National Broadband Plan: The Good The Bad and The Ugly – Part II

By now, it should be obvious to everyone that Google has been trying hard to create other revenue generating business models to help them to reduce their dependency on their sole search advertising business responsible for over 90% of their annual revenue. It is also becoming obvious (at least to me) as the company fails more and more with their new businesses like their Nexus One smartphone and Google Wave,  they are becoming more evil than ever.

Google is in talks with Verizon that would kill the Net Neutrality for good once (or if) it goes through. It is certainly time to revoke Google’s “Do No Evil”. What the hell happened to their Public Policy statement?  “Hey FCC, keep the Internet open — and awesome!Read more of this post

FCC Offers New Plan to Regulate US Broadband

by Elias Shams

FCC posted a new details of a plan under which the government would regulate the Internet and implement “network neutrality” on the nation’s broadband networks. The plan calls for Internet service providers to be reclassified as telecommunications services, and brought under some of the existing rules governing those services.

In particular, FCC wants to ensure that ISPs cannot provide preferential or discriminatory treatment to particular Web services.

The new plan from the FCC comes after a recent federal appeals court ruling that questioned the agency’s authority to regulate U.S. broadband providers. read more…
