Do You Think Your Business Idea Is A Head of It’s Time?

A few month after Yurie systems, my first startup employer was sold to Lucent for a cool $1.23 B, as employee number 8th, I cashed out my stock options and lunched telezoo.com back in 1999.  telezoo.com was the first B2B social networking site on the web years before myspace and Facebook of the world. I remember I ended up hiring  at least ten sales guy and wasted  a third of our series A funding, a cool $1 m on advertising to get the attention of the companies.  We rarely managed to get 300 companies to utilize the site.

Getting the companies to leverage the power of social networking to market their solution offerings and get engaged with their existing and potential clients online was something totally unheard of and premature.  Many of them even thought I was on dope :) We had a good run with it till 2004 though. The Clash of Social Media Titans: The Ultimate Winner Is You And Your Business!

As many of you know, and many including myself had been predicting, there’s now a rapidly brewing battle going on between the social media titans. According to the WSJ, Google has tweaked their search to favor those more active on their Google+ pages than other social networking site – Facebook, Twitter Call Out Google On Social Search Results.

Needless to say, the change has obviously pissed off the engineers working for Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The main reasons for this are, unlike Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, Read more of this post

Why Your Business Can’t Afford Ignoring Google+ and awesomize.me

I have been on Google+ since their launch earlier this year. Although, I love it more than facebook, but I rarely see any of my facebook friends using it. I would say out of 460 of my facebook friends, only five of them including myself using Google+.

Well, their recent TV commercial during Lions vs. Packers football game on Thanksgiving day poised to attract my remaining 455 friends so as other remaining 750 m people  on facebook. Read more of this post

Ask Not How Your Fans and Followers Can Awesomize You…Ask How You Can Awesomize Them!

As a serial entrepreneur, I’ve learned that we can have the most incredible ideas, but if we fail to come up with the right messaging our startup could end up nowhere. Typically, a startup hires a marketing communications person or even a PR agency to help them with that task. But, what would you do if you don’t have the funding to afford one? Well, do what I recently did: Put your heads together with other successful entrepreneurs to learn from their experiences – and surround your self with smart, creative people – if they are beautiful, that’s even double jackpot! Businesses Will Be Flocking to Social Media in 2011

and the Washingtonian startup,  awesomize.me will be there to greet them :-)

It was exactly a month ago today that we launched the beta version of our new venture, awesomize.me that targets both consumers and enterprises.  I’ve believed in our business model on day first, the latest study by the IT research firm, IDC, is giving me even more confidence about the concept. With the explosion of social media phenomena, one of the awesomize.me‘s mission is to assist business owners to select the right social media channels for their operation as well as connecting them to the right strategic partners and clients.

The new study titled “Top 10 Predictions 2011” shows that businesses will increasingly turn to social networking tools in 2011. Time To Move On If Your Partner Starts Sexting

by
Elias Shams
Social Media is the latest fad among us these days and literally, most of us are kind of addicted to it. We have gotten so caught up with the convenience and effortlessness of these methods that we are beginning to forget what it means to have a relationship of any kind with someone unless it is through a cell phone or computer.

I was just reviewing an interesting, but sad study (commissioned by Retrevo) that made me to realize how social media has taken over our lives. Sharing stuff via Facebook, Tweeting, and Texting have allowed us to send messages and post pictures in order to keep in touch with old or long distance friends, eliminating the need to pick up the phone and schedule a lunch date. The study even shows many of us already  getting into the habit of interrupting our sex to checkout the incoming text messages. That says something about the growing lack of personal boundaries.

Can you picture this?
ah! ah! ah!
Oh God! Oh God! Oh my God!
I love you! I am coming! I am coooooooommmmmming!
Wait! wait  honey! I got a txt
