Our Washington DC is the Most Sexually Transmitted Disease City in the US

After all the great things we have been posting about DC, here is a sad one. I hate to be the one posting this. I just hope it creates  awareness.

According to Google’s Public Data Explorer, DC is the most Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) in the nation. CDC shows the STD are on the decline, with the exception of Chlamydia (caused by the Chlamydia Trachomatis bacteria), which is on the rise! Regretfully, our beloved Washington, DC is the capital of such bacteria.

Those of you not familiar with Chlamydia, it’s the most frequently reported bacterial sexually transmitted disease in the United States. It is estimated that about 2.3 million individuals in the United States ages 14-39 are infected with it. Between half and three-quarters of all women who have a Chlamydia do not know that they are infected. The scary part of it is that it can linger for months or years before being discovered.
