Texting: The most popular communication methods in the world

Here is another interesting  survey Mashable has put together that illustrates the trends and averages for texting in the United States and around the world.

As for the stat shown for Philippines, there should be no surprise there. With all the telcos offering unlimited SMS in prepaid plans as well as postpaid one in the country, this is expected. Their nation still remains the texting / SMS capital of the world. Read more of this post

More and More Texting, Browsing, Downloading

Nearly two-thirds of U.S. mobile subscribers used text messaging in May, while nearly a third used their mobile web browsers or downloaded apps, according to a new report by comScore.

All three categories rose about 2% from figures released in February. The largest increase, however, occurred among those using their mobile devices to access social networks or blogs (up 2.6% to 20.8%). All told, 49.1 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones during the three months ending in May, up 8.1 percent from February, with Research In Motion‘s (Blackberry) platform running on nearly 42%. Apple (24.4%) and Microsoft (13.2%) followed, with Google‘s Android platform (13%) the only one among the top five gaining market share, up 4%.

The report further shows that 65.2 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers used text messaging on their mobile device in May, up 1.4 percentage points versus the prior three month period, while browsers were used by 31.9 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers (up 2.3 percentage points). Time To Move On If Your Partner Starts Sexting

by
Elias Shams
Social Media is the latest fad among us these days and literally, most of us are kind of addicted to it. We have gotten so caught up with the convenience and effortlessness of these methods that we are beginning to forget what it means to have a relationship of any kind with someone unless it is through a cell phone or computer.

I was just reviewing an interesting, but sad study (commissioned by Retrevo) that made me to realize how social media has taken over our lives. Sharing stuff via Facebook, Tweeting, and Texting have allowed us to send messages and post pictures in order to keep in touch with old or long distance friends, eliminating the need to pick up the phone and schedule a lunch date. The study even shows many of us already  getting into the habit of interrupting our sex to checkout the incoming text messages. That says something about the growing lack of personal boundaries.

Can you picture this?
ah! ah! ah!
Oh God! Oh God! Oh my God!
I love you! I am coming! I am coooooooommmmmming!
