‘Transformers 3’ Plans To Shoot In Washington, D.C. maybe NOT

Looks like the movie “Transformers 3” that is supposed to be shot in DC this coming September, might not happen after all.
The “simulated explosions and pyrotechnics at locations along Pennsylvania and Independence avenues” (via The Washington Post) — are being met with some resistance by National Park Service authorities. Apparently there’s some hesitation about staging massive explosions so close to the country’s seats of power. Go figure.
I imagine that Michael Bay, the director will get his way eventually — likely a compromise — especially with the added weight of producer Steve Spielberg backing him up.
If not DC, looks like the alternative shooting places might be Times Square in New York City, Hollywood in Los Angeles, The Strip in Las Vegas, The Lost City of Atlantis, or Cybertron.
Let’s hope the authorities will resolve the issues. Shooting ‘transformer 3’ in DC is a great chance for the city and our businesses to reap spending on hotel rooms, meals, equipment rentals, taxi rides and temporary jobs from $200 million production budget.
