Washington D.C. Home of the Late Ted Kennedy For Sale

Victoria Reggie Kennedy, the widow of “The Lion of the Senate,” has put the Washington D.C. den where she and the late Senator Edward Kennedy lived on the market for $7,995,000, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The Colonial-style 6-bed, 8-bath is in the affluent Kalorama area of the district and covers nearly 9,000-square feet over four stories.

The 1926 house features a large dining room that can seat up to 50, a family room, living room, sunroom, game room, den, library, basement and five fireplaces throughout the house. The master suite has a study and balconies overlooking the backyard garden. Each of the six bedrooms has its own bathroom. There is an indoor resistance pool in the house as well.

“It’s full of light, and there are a lot of fireplaces, which I love,” Sen. Kennedy told Architectural Digest in 1999. The couple bought the house in 1998.

The 77-year-old Kennedy died of a malignant brain tumor in August after being diagnosed the previous May. The Massachusetts Democrat spent 47 years in the U.S. Senate and was the last living son of Joseph and Rose Kennedy and brother to President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert Kennedy, both assassinated in the ‘60s.
