Thursday, August 5 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM, stop by the White House Farmers Market at 810 Vermont Ave. NW between H St. and I St. NW – White House neighborhood. Inspired by the organic garden on the White House lawn – guests can shop for pasture-raised meats, artisan cheeses, milk and yogurt, fresh fruits and vegetables, breads and baked good, cut flowers, preserves and more. Thursday, August 5 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM, Join the Capitol Communicator for the Summer in the City Media Mixer at District, 2473 18th St NW. Connect with professionals from all communications disciplines and media in the upscale lounge area, or soak up the night air on the rooftop deck & bar. Cocktails for $5 along with light fare. Thursday, August 5 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM, stop by the Opening Reception of the Tony Savoie exhibit at Long View Gallery, 1234 Ninth St. NW. Tony Savoie’s distaste for war is in much of his work. Thursday, August 5-7Washington Improv Theater presents Improvapalooza. 100 shows, all 10 minutes long. A new show every 10 minutes. Buy a daily or weekend pass. Plenty of laughs. Friday, August 6 through Sunday, August 8, The ‘Skins Charitable Foundation in partnership with World Vision will launch a “Stuff a Backpack” School Supply Drive seeking donations of new school supplies for underprivileged children.  Continues through training camp at ‘Skin’s Park, 21300 ‘ Skins Park Dr , Ashburn , VA. Friday, August 6 from 8:00 -11:00 PM, join the SEARCH Foundation for In SEARCH of Big Hair a celebration in the city of BALTIMORE with fun décor, local food and a hairdressing station. The foundation supports special event industry professionals in times of crisis through fundraising, volunteer services and donations. Tickets:  $70, including hors d’ oeuvres, drinks, entertainment and a silent auction.

Friday, August 6 from 7:30 – 11:00 PM, visit the 2010 Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival as it continues. Keeping with the “I Love the 90’s” theme, “Romeo & Juliet” will be screened at dusk. Free and guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. Arrive early for 90’s themed games and prizes.

Saturday, August 7 from 12:00 – 4:00 PM, join The Pink Line Project  and NCMS for the 2nd Annual 1st on First Art +Music Walk highlighting area businesses and local artists, artisans, and musicians. Event takes place along First St. NW , between Florida and Rhode Island Avenues.  Stages at each end of the walk— outside of Big Bear Café (First and R Street, NW ) and Windows Café. The first 300 participants to complete the hunt will receive a $3 credit for refreshments.

Sunday, August 8 from 6:00 – 10:00 PM, visit WACA on the Waterfront, an evening of great food from member restaurants and cocktails to raise money for the Les Clefs d’Or Foundation, Whitman-Walker Clinic and the John C. Campbell Scholarship Fund at Tony & Joe’s, 3000 K Street NW . The event features a silent auction and great dance music! Tickets: $65/members and $75/non-members (follow the ‘donate’ prompt).

Tuesday, August 10th – 2nd Tuesdays Networking Salon, Cocktail Party & Job Fair

Stay cool this summer with the Capital Cabal as we present 2nd Tuesday, a special networking event for all D.C. area techies, webbies, quasi-webbies, and smart business people who appreciate a smart crowd. We have a special “job fair” theme this month, so come out on Tuesday, August 10th from 5:30 to 9:00PM at the private lounge at Gua Rapo, 2039 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington’s Courthouse area.
