Accessibility Camp D.C. Event

If you are interested in mingling and networking with the smart Washingtonians  in WWW space, you may want to attend the Accessibility Camp DC event in October.

Some suggestions for talks are listed below. If you have other ideas send them to us or add them to the wiki, once we have that ready.

  • 508 Compliance
  • Practical Ways to Make Your Website Accessible
  • Accessible PDF’s
  • Making Flash Accessible
  • What is WAI-ARIA – (Web Accessibility Initiative – Accessible Rich Internet Applications)
  • Accessible Video and Transcription
  • Panel Discussion on “Issues Effecting Individuals with Disabilities on the Web”
  • Captioning

Registration will be open starting at 11 AM EST today (Monday – August 16, 2010). We are going to send a notice out to people on twitter that registration starts at noon today so you can get first dibs on tickets. If when you go to register and there are not any tickets, this is because we will be starting with 50 tickets and adding them in groups of 25 up to 150.This is so people don’t sign-up early and not attend and we can make sure that we have enough sponsorship money to pay for the event as well.

For those coming from out of town we are still looking into hotel information for palces near metro (DC subay) to make getting around easier.

When: Saturday, October 09, 2010 from 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM (ET)

Where: Martin Luther King (MLK) Library
901 G St NW
Room 215
Washington, DC 20001-4531 map
