The Future of non-profits [Event]

Join the CEOs of two of Washington’s most prestigious and well-known organizations for a discussion on the future of non-profits. As our economy continues to give us mixed indicators about its health, what are non-profit CEOs doing to plan for the future amid all this uncertainty? Did the recession lead to permanent changes in revenue and expense management strategies? Both NPR and National Geographic have paved the way in creating new revenue streams and ventures that have allowed them to grow and thrive over the years.

But what’s next? Don’t miss this great networking opportunity and lively and engaging discussion on the outlook for non-profits and media companies.

Vivian Schiller, CEO, NPR

Vivian oversees NPR’s worldwide media operations that include a network of 900 public radio stations and 30 million listeners. She is charged with assuring the fiscal, operational and journalistic integrity of NPR and building the organization and revenue base to further the public service mission of the NPR member network.

John Fahey, CEO, National Geographic Society

John has revolutionized the National Geographic Society, entering the cable TV space with the National Geographic Channel and expanding the National Geographic magazine internationally. The channel currently airs in 34 languages in 315 million homes in 165 countries, and the magazine now publishes in 32 local-language editions. John is also chairman of the executive committee of the Society’s board of trustees.

Richard Newman, Partner, Arent Fox

Richard is co-chair of Arent Fox’s public finance practice and represents non-profits, including the National Geographic Society and NPR, in tax, real estate and finance matters.
