Vapiano Grand Opening in Bethesda

Vapiano is opening their first location in Maryland – Bethesda.

The sexy and ultimate “fuel stop for grownups” joint will be offering an urban upscale atmosphere in a comfortable environment where guests can relax and be themselves.

Those of you not familiar with the place, the name Vapiano emerged from the Italian expression Chi va piano va sano e va lontano, literally translated to mean “One who takes life easy and relaxed, lives healthier and longer.”

I’ve been in their DC place on numerous occasions when I am craving pasta and don’t feel like cooking. I love pretty much everything! The pizzas, pastas, and salads are all large portions and reasonably priced. Their pizzas are thin and soft crust with right amount of sauce and toppings.

The decor is pretty unique and I like the large, shared tables in the casual but Euro environment. Everyone who works there is very friendly and the service is great. Sometimes there’s a long line, but I don’t really mind–it’s the kind of place you should go with a group anyway. I wouldn’t recommend it for a date or a solo outing.

Not sure about their Bethesda spot, but, I would say Vapiano is a half bar, half upscale Italian cafeteria, and is my old stand by to take a casual group of friends or co-workers. But it is more than a restaurant–it is an insurance policy for your friendship. They give everyone their own card when you walk in the door allows you to run up your own personal tab without being worried about splitting checks at the end of the night or worrying if Jack and Jane who left early actually left enough money to cover themselves this time. So you don’t ever have to worry about the resentment of “those guys are so cheap!” because you are not on their tab to begin with!

It’s a perfect place to go with a group of people. It’s also a good casual place to have a glass of wine (discounted during happy hour) and pizza after work.

Anyway, don’t miss their grand opening
