Name: Angela Hausman, PhD
Live in: Alexandria, VA
Originally from: Pittsburgh, PA, although I lived in Savannah, Georgia and Lynchburg, VA most of the time when I was growing up.
Profession: Marketing Professor at Howard University in Washington, DC. I also run Hausman and Associates, a marketing consortium built to provide full service marketing to medium sized businesses.
What I love about the DC area the most: the variety of entertainment options from walking around Old Town and listening to street performers, to the museums, to the great restaurants and retail venues like Reston Town Center, to National Harbor. Abundant green spaces encourage visitors to take a stroll or a hike or bike around the city and its surroundings. Festivals and cultural events abound. I think we’re extremely fortunate to live in such a pleasant area (except for the traffic and the high cost of living).
About me: I have 3 kids, ages 17-23, who’ve all decided to move back home due to the bad economy. We have 3 dogs and 3 cats, all rescue animals from shelters or strays. Together with my boyfriend, we own a home we are constantly updating. I run a company that works with businesses to do their social and internet marketing, develop marketing strategy, especially related to innovation, market research, and marketing communications. I work with several local charities, including the Rotary of Alexandria and the Alexandria Symphony and help non-profits in the greater DC area through student marketing projects.
