Let the Price War begin – Fring vs Skype

Has anyone tried Fring, the alternative to Skype and Google Voice? They now let you  to make phone calls to land line and mobile numbers anywhere in the world with prices starting at one cent per minute.  Looks like they are gearing up to challenge Skype – international calls from 0.4 cents to 1.1 cents depending on the country.

Fring and Skype used to be partner to serve iPhone and Android users,  but since the launch of iPhone 4, their partnership for whatever reason started going south.  Fring then opted to launch their own service called fringOut, very similar to SkypeOut.

FringOut currently works on Nokia phones and iPhone.

I love this price war between the two companies! This is what I call Capitalism. Fring’ service will be a additional competition in a very small space currently dominated by Skype and to a lesser extent Google Voice. As it should be 🙂

I have been Fring user from last 14 months or so through my Nokia Cellular Handset. In start they have the SKYPE plugin which is no more available so I have asked all my SkYpe contacts to get Fring. As experienced, FRING guys are doing magic… with GPRS available on phone the results are just incredible
I was wondering why they have pulled out from offering SKYPE… now after reading the header of discussion things are pretty much clear.
With this war on prices and betterment of services ……. No matter what the outcome is …. we the enduser will be on the winning side (I wisH)
