Wireless capacity and coverage provider Powerwave has opened a new office in Washington, D.C., the company announced.

The Washington, D.C., office will focus on developing Powerwave’s government business. The company’s government-focused division aims to provide the military, homeland security and other government agencies with telecommunications infrastructure. Powerwave’s product offerings include a mobile communication infrastructure for emergency and disaster communications and secure housing for critical infrastructure like communications and IT equipment.

The new office will be led by Powerwave’s Government Solutions VP, Jake Macleod, who has 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry.

“Powerwave is the right choice for mission-critical secure wireless networks for government applications because we are an experienced and reliable leader in the commercial wireless market, providing wireless coverage and capacity solutions to meet surging mobile broadband demand,” said Powerwave CEO and president Ronald J. Buschur.

Powerwave chief product and development officer Khurran P. Sheikh added, “Government agencies need ubiquitous network coverage—a concept Powerwave calls ‘inside-out’ networking, which is driving demand for wireless infrastructure for a wide range of applications, both indoors and outdoors.”
