Virginia has fallen to No. 2 in CNBC‘s annual ranking of America’s Top States for Business after topping the list last year.

Texas, No. 2 in last year’s poll, jumped to the top spot with No. 1 overall rankings in economy and transportation & infrastructure — two categories in which Virginia slipped. Colorado, North Carolina and Massachusetts rounded out the top five, with Maryland coming in at No. 27. CNBC ranked all 50 states on 40 measures of competitiveness.
